:  a skin disorder characterized by widespread erythema and the formation of flaccid bullae and later by skin that is scalded in appearance and separates from the body in large sheets—called also epidermal necrolysis, Lyell's syndrome, scalded-skin syndrome; compare staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome
